Jaguar Land Rover Opens a new Engineering Test Centre in Dubai

Jaguar Land Rover has now opened a new engineering test centre in Dubai, UAE, to conduct extreme hot weather vehicle research, development and testing. With temperatures in the desert typically reaching 48 to 50 degrees Celsius in the summer months, the new 11,120 sq. ft. facility in the Al Barsha area of Dubai, UAE will offer a comprehensive range of tests including durability, calibration and hot weather testing for heat and humidity.

Jaguar Land Rover Revenues up 17%

Tata Motors owned British luxury carmaker, Jaguar Land Rover has today reported revenues of £15.8bn for the fiscal year ended 31st March 2013, up 17% year on year (£13.5bn last year). Retail sales increased 22% to 374,636 vehicles, supported by significant product actions including the all-new Range Rover, Jaguar all-wheel drive XF and XJ and the XF Sportbrake. The company generated positive sales growth in all regions: China up 48%, Asia Pacific up 27%, UK up 20%, Europe up 18%, North America up 9% and other overseas markets up 19%. Profit before tax increased by 11% to £1,675m for the fiscal year (£1,507m last year

Land Rover Launches new Freelander 2 S

Land Rover has rolled out a new, price cut S Business edition of its flagship SUV Freelander 2, which will be a new base variant of the car priced at around Rs. 2 lakh cheaper than the existing one. In order to make it more affordable, Land Rover has cut down some features like the sunroof, rear camera, front doors' puddle lamps, driver and passenger's arm rests and powered front seats. The company has also replaced the 7-inch touchscreen and NAV unit with a smaller 4.2 inch colour display with a 6-speaker audio system. In terms of design, the car remains all the same.

2014 Range Rover Evoque details revealed

Land Rover has announced the 2014 Range Rover Evoque, which comes equipped with a range of new comfort, convenience, connectivity features and several new technologies. The 2014 Range Rover Evoque is about 11.4 per cent more fuel efficient and has lower CO2 emissions.The UK buyers can order the vehicle, and it will go on sale in quarter four 2013. The vehicle now has a new 9-speed automatic transmission, new driveline technologies, seven new driver assistance features and detail design enhancements inside and out.

Land Rover launches its first Range Rover hybrid models

Land Rover has introduced its first ever hybrid range rover models - the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Sport Hybrid in the UK, while the product is expected to reach India by mid-October. The vehicles will deliver outstanding fuel economy, lower CO2 emissions and has Land Rover's renowned capability and performance. The bookings for the Hybrid models in the UK will start from September 10 with first deliveries commencing in early 2014.

Volvo V40 Cross Country Launching Tomorrow- June 14

Mahindra Logan CNG Version Launched

Mahindra & Mahindra has finally launched the much awaited CNG version of its famous Logan in Indian Auto market. The availability of CNG Kit is made on 1.4 GLE and GLX trim levels. This launch is yet limited to Delhi and Mumbai only but soon company will spread the launch all over the country.

The Logan 1.4 GLE CNG variant is priced at Rs 6.04 lakh and Rs 6.33 lakh for GLX CNG variant. If we compare it with the prices of non CNG models a difference of Rs 56,000 will be observed (all price on-road Mumbai). The CNG Kits fitted by Mahindra & Mahindra are manufactured by Landi Renzo Spa which also supplies CNG kits to other major car manufacturers like Renault, Tata Motors and now Mahindra a& Mahindra. This high technology CNG kit will be fitted by Logicon in the Logan models.

Renault could bring a new sedan based on Logan

Remember, the now polpular Mahindra Verito was once upon a time linked with Renault. Not with Verito though, but we used to call it Mahindra Renault Logan back then. Looks like Renault is determined to revive its lost grip in the entry-level sedan segment with a brand new car with Renault underpinning.  The helping hand for Renault to make this project a success are the designers to ZR.ru who gave a new look to the estranged Renault Logan to emerge with dazzling new looks. However, there are absolutely no details on the pricing or the engine specifications of the sedan, but the car manufacturer could look at Maruti Swift Dzire for an idea.

Lamborghini Announces Gallardo Retirement

Lamborghini has decided to retire its iconic best-selling model, the Lamborghini Gallardo at the end of the year 2013. The latest in the Gallardo line-up, the LP-560-4 will be the final Gallardo to be sold with the tag after which it will be retired and a replacement will take its place. The year 2013 will mark a decade of the Gllarado's rein, at the end of which Lamborghini will debut its replacement. The company will however continue selling the old Gallardo's.

Lamborghini Gallardo's two New Models Launched

The Italian luxury sports car manufacture, Lamborghini that launched the all new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster in India in January, now has launched two new Gallardo models in the country. Lamborghini organized a track day at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) a couple of days back to provide an opportunity to car enthusiasts to drive these cars on the track, and the same day these two new Gallardos were rolled out. Newly launched LP560-4 and LP570-4 Edizione Tecnica are priced at Rs 2.61 crore and Rs 2.93 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.

DC Designs to manufacture DC Avanti and other luxury

Indian leading automobile designer DC Design would set up a manufacturing unit in Gujarat by 2014. The new production unit at Sanand will have a capacity of developing 3,500 units of DC's supercars. Dilip Chhabria, the DC Design owner said that the new facility that would call for an investment of Rs. 60 crore, would be developed in a year's time. DC Design would develop super car DC Avanti and the other super cars.

Toyota to launch improved Prius; 15 new or refreshed hybrids by 2016

Undoubtedly, Toyota is the world's leader when it comes to hybrid vehicles, and Prius is one of their most successful Hybrid vehicles, which was launched way back in 1997. The Japanese automaker sold over 5 million hybrid vehicles all over world, and is all set to reach newer heights in the near future. Volkswagen may unveil Taigun compact SUV

Audi unveils the new A8 and S8

The new A8 had made its way into India in 2011, and we can soon expect this revised version to land on our shores. The new A8’s headlamps have 25 high-beam LEDs and a possibility of 1 billion different distribution of light depending on the road conditions and the oncoming traffic. Renault to present Duster facelift at Frankfurt Motor Show

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo

Right now, the Veloster lacks the performance cred to back up its killer looks. But that will change once this 201-hp version hits the streets. The 45 percent boost in horsepower has most folks taking a second look at the Veloster, and hoping this Turbo is a signal that Hyundai is getting as serious about performance as it has been about quality and design over the last few years. 

So far, though, signs remain cloudy—the stonking 1.6-liter motor with dual exhaust notwithstanding. Word is the Veloster Turbo gets the same suspension, which is disappointing. The stock Veloster is fun but stiff-kneed and less refined when compared to better-bred sporty cars like VW's GTI—or the Subaru BRZ, which is only somewhat costlier than what we're expecting to see from the Veloster Turbo. Also, ask Mini engineers about controlling torque steer in a 200-hp car with a short wheelbase. That, too, has probably made Hyundai sweat.

NHTSA probes Grand Cherokee fires

Blazes start in headliner

U.S. auto safety regulators are investigating the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV after complaints about fires inside the car.

In a filing Monday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it has received three reports of fires in the headliner of the SUV near the passenger-side sun visor. The inquiry covers 146,000 vehicles. It is not related to a long-running probe of older Grand Cherokees that caught fire when struck from behind.

In each of the three complaints that prompted the NHTSA investigation, the driver smelled something burning and saw smoke coming from the headliner. Lowering the windows in an effort to clear the smoke only fanned the flames.
