Does the new Mercedes-Benz CLA 180 Sport have the substance to match its style?
If any car is evidence of Mercedes-Benz' attempts to woo younger buyers, the C
LA 180 Sport is it.
It's not just the swoopy, "baby CLS" styling - in the UK the CLA is sold only in Sport or AMG Sport trim, which means lots of racy-looking trim and 18in alloy wheels. This isn't your traditional "pipe and slippers" Merc saloon. In fact, Mercedes doesn't even call it that - it calls it a four-door coupe.
The CLA 180 Sport is the range's entry-level model. That means a sub-£25k price, but at £24,355 (before options) it costs £3085 more than the equivalent A-Class, on which its closely based and with which it shares many parts.
